ROC to hire VISTA member to help launch employment training program
The Rural Outreach Center (ROC), a nonprofit organization in East Aurora that is changing the lives of those living in rural poverty every day, is partnering with Serve New York and AmeriCorps VISTA to hire a full-time VISTA member. The VISTA member will be focused on helping the ROC launch a pilot employment training program. This includes working with ROC staff and volunteers on research, data collection, business plan development, goal setting and fundraising.
Serve New York mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve organizations, government agencies and educational institutions focused on the needs of veteran and military families, improving and expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all, and creating healthy futures for the residents of New York. The goal of Serve New York is to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families.
Located at 730 Olean Road in East Aurora, the ROC offers immediate assistance for community members in urgent need while also providing programs, with community partners, to empower individuals to change behaviors and achieve a more stable life situation through financial coaching, job preparation, literacy training and more.
