Christmas at the ROC: How to Help
The Rural Outreach Center is so grateful for the ongoing support the community gives ROC Participants. Below are three ways you can get involved with the ROC’s Christmas program, which offers families support during a time of year that is often financially difficult. ROC families eligible for Christmas have been engaged with the ROC’s services for at least six months and are actively working to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
Our Adopt-A-Family program has closed for the year – thank you to everyone who reached out in support of our ROC families! If you are interested in supporting the ROC further this Christmas, additional ways to get involved are listed below:
- Give gift cards/Shop for single adults: Many of our adult Participants live on their own and have no one else to celebrate the holidays with. Gift cards are a small way of making their holidays sparkle a little brighter. The ROC will provide you with a list of commonly requested gift cards and/or any particular needs our Participants may have.
- Give the gift of joy: A monetary donation to the ROC helps ensure that we can continue providing play therapy and counseling to our families, helping to break the cycle of rural poverty. Your support means the world to the ROC and to our families.
- Donate new, unwrapped presents: This year, due to COVID and the difficulties it has caused so many in our community, the ROC is providing a small number of gifts to families in the area we serve. We are in particular need of presents for older children and teenagers. These gifts can be dropped off at the South Wales Community Hall on December 16th and 17th from 3-6PM, or you can get in touch with Amelia (716-240-2220 ext. 202) to arrange to drop them off at the ROC.
