Annual ROCtober event to benefit Rural Outreach Center
The Rural Outreach Center (ROC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting rural poverty, will host its fourth annual “ROCtober” event from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Elm Street Bakery, 72 Elm St., East Aurora.
The event will feature food by Elm Street Bakery, wine provided by Reed’s Wines and Liquors, beer, music by Doug Yeomans, and a custom-made cherry coffee table handcrafted by local artisan Jim Conell-Cordes and valued at $2,800. Raffle tickets for the coffee table are available for $10 each or three for $25. The drawing will take place the night of the event.
Other one-of-a-kind auction items up for bid during the event will include dinner for eight with wine pairings at the Roycroft Inn, 12 months of flowers from Flowers by Nature, front row tickets for an upcoming Buffalo Sabres game, and a two-night stay at the Ellicottvillas in beautiful Ellicottville, N.Y.
Tickets to this special event are limited and are available for a $50 donation to the ROC. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Larwood Pharmacy, Reed’s Wines and Liquors and the Rural Outreach Center, or online at www.theroc.co. Proceeds will be used to support programs and social work for the underserved and impoverished, helping all to become self-sufficient.
Located at 730 Olean Road in East Aurora, the mission of the Rural Outreach Center is to assist, empower and elevate the impoverished rural population in southern Erie County and surrounding areas. The organization does this through numerous community outreach initiatives including a health services programs, household goods redistribution center, free monthly community dinners, nutritious snack packs for kids, a reading readiness program, mentoring services, financial coaching, employment assistance and much more.
