Press Release: ROC and Roswell Park EDDY Mobile Screening Unit Collaboration
The Rural Outreach Center is proud to announce our collaboration with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Early Detection Driven to You (EDDY) lung cancer screening mobile unit. EDDY was at the ROC this past week from July 9th-11th screening for lung cancer. The Roswell Team, Patient Navigator Jessica Leone, Desire Dienstbier CT Technologist, Tara Polilla Nurse Coordinator, Cheryl Raczyk Advanced Practice Provider, and Alyssa McNulty Director of Mobile CT EDDY were vital to this collaboration. This team of amazing healthcare workers manned the screening truck and delivered healthcare to rural patients in need. Rural communities are often at a disadvantage to accessing healthcare because of the lack of public transportation networks and lack of providers and specialists in rural communities. The ROC is in the process of developing a health initiatives network where we partner with local clinics that have mobile units to deliver healthcare to rural communities in need. Mobile units are a great way to combat the lack of transportation and provider issues rural communities face by bringing healthcare directly to the patients. Our current partners that we are working with are Roswell Park, Neighborhood Health Canter, University at Buffalo, and Parkview Health Services. More mobile clinics will ideally be deployed in the future. We thank all our collaborators and will be posting about more upcoming events that will deliver healthcare to the communities we serve.
