Preventing falls is the topic of Rural Outreach Center event

Did you know that falls are one of the most preventable causes of injury for older adults? In fact, one out of three adults will fall this year but only half of these individuals will mention it to their doctor. And, falling once greatly increases the risk of falling again.

This will be the topic of a rescheduled event to be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at the Rural Outreach Center, 730 Olean Road, East Aurora. Karen Shalke, an occupational therapist and community liaison for Catholic Health’s Living Independently for Elders program at the Our Lady of Victory Senior Neighborhood, will discuss many simple steps that can be taken to prevent falls. The event is free and open to the public.
