ROC announces new Code Blue site at South Wales Community Center

The Rural Outreach Center (ROC) in East Aurora and the South Wales Community Center have joined forces to offer a new rural Code Blue site beginning on Monday, Feb. 19 and extending through Saturday, March 31, 2018. The Code Blue site will be located in the South Wales Community Center at 6387 Olean Road.

On nights when the temperature or wind chill factor falls below 32 degrees, the South Wales Community Center will be open and staffed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Van service will be available from 8 to 11 p.m. to pick individuals up and take them to the warming site. Return transportation will also be provided in the morning, and breakfast will be served prior to departure.

Code Blue requires no intake procedure and is available to any individuals who are homeless or without housing on nights that fall below 32 degrees. Individuals must be within Erie County, and the service primarily targets individuals in the rural southern towns and villages of Erie County. Those who are homeless or working with homeless individuals in the rural towns of Erie County may call the Rural Outreach Center at (716) 240-2220 for more information.

The Rural Outreach Center is a nonprofit organization offering a wide variety of social services for those living in Western New York’s rural communities.
